As the nation faces a continued shortage of nursing personnel, the opportunities for practical nurses continue to escalate. Nursing is a viable & rewarding career for individuals from a range of ages, education backgrounds and vocations. The education and employment options are open as a result of the alarming nursing shortage and rapid growth of health care. Practical nursing provides a career ladder to become a registered nurse, health care administrator or medical provider.
A number of employment vacancies are projected in the near future. Nursing is essential for patient safety, wellness and health promotion. Practical nurses are an extension of the registered nurse to assist in assessing, planning, communicating, implementing & evaluating patient care outcomes. The curriculum is designed to develop the knowledge and skills that are fundamental to meet the scope of practice of a practical nurse. Moreover, practical nurses make economic and social contributions to the community where they live and work.
